The home of Mike and Debby Murphy at 1309 Melrose is recognized as the May 2012 Yard of the Month.
Mike provided the following: “We are thrilled that we have been selected as Yard of the Month for May. Here is a brief description of what we have done:
We have lived in this great neighborhood for 27 years, moving in with our daughter Megan who was two years old at the time, and right before our son, Kevin, was born. Both Debby and I, at the time, were working for the Richardson schools (I was a principal and Debby was a teacher) so we knew what a great neighborhood this area was. We feel really blessed to be able to live here with such great neighbors.
Our house was (and still is!) in great shape, but the yard always lacked a little something . . . so about three years ago we began slowly adding low-maintenance plants, extending beds, and seasonal flowers to the design to add to the curb appeal of the house. Our latest addition is a small English garden on the west side of the house—while it’s mainly visible to us when we are in the house, it is already giving us a lot of pleasure!”
